BALINALE 2015 presented ‘Face of Diversity’ with films that entertain and inspire, challenge and expose you to the rich diversity and uniqueness of people, places, cultures and beliefs. The program had a record 105 films from 29 countries with an excellent mix of world cinema and local gems many with the filmmakers here to meet our enthusiastic and appreciative audiences at our ‘Official Venue Partner’ the newly launched Cinemaxx for a week-long program of international & Indonesian full length fiction & documentaries and our Signature Shorts.
Other highlights of the festival included BALINALE Film Industry Forum with filmmakers discussing topics on; How to increase Indonesia’s film industry potential, Locations & incentives, Fostering young talent, Creative content promotion & protection. Speakers include; Yoon Je-kyoon, director ODE TO MY FATHER and producer Tae-sung Jeong (CEO of CJ Entertainment), producer Mr. Gen Sato “ROUND TRIP HEART”, “GÜEROS” director Alonso Ruiz Palacios & lead actress Ilse Salas, “ONCE UPON A MINE” director Vofka Solovéy, director Richard Todd “FRACKMAN”, Bambang Supriadi, DOP & lecturer at Jakarta Institute of Arts, among others.
BALINALE’s free Open Air Cinema, known as Layar Tancap in Indonesia, was launched last year as an important part of the festival’s commitment to the community adding to its existing Children’s Charity Film Day and Educational Programs. “ONCE UPON A MINE” was shown at the main contest program, as well as at the Open Air Cinema’s screen.
The festival was supported by the newly launched Cinemaxx, Lippo Mall Kuta and South Kuta Beach Business Association.
